How can I stop breastfeeding my son? How to put him to bed without breastfeeding?

Hello, mothers! My son is 1.8 year old and I decided to start weaning, but the problem is that he is used to falling asleep while nursing. I am not sure how to make him sleep now, he didn’t nap all day! Any advice?

  1. If your son can sleep only while nursing, then it would be better to remove other breastfeeding session first but keep the night feeding and feeding before naps.

  2. Do you breastfeed your son often during the day?

  3. I stopped breastfeeding when my baby was 1,5. I gave her juice instead or puree before bed, read fairy tales, stroked her. I am surprised but it was quite easy to wean, even though my daughter also seemed very addicted to falling asleep on my breast.

  4. I was holding my baby on my arms until she would fall asleep and when she asked for my tit, I said “It’s really sick” and suggested her some water instead. She was old enough to understand what means “sick” so she drank some water and fell asleep.

  5. My baby can fall asleep on his own in the crib and doesn’t eat breast milk during the day anymore, but when he wakes up in the middle of the night, it’s impossible to put him back to sleep without feeding! It doesn’t happen every night though.

  6. I tried to replace night feeding sessions with water, juice, puree, formula.. I rocked her, read for her and sang but nothing helped, she was just crying and screaming for ages. Eventually she got very tired and fell asleep on the couch with tears and I moved her to the crib. Next day was about the same, but a bit better..
